As most of you may know by now, we're currently working hard on our new album. To keep you busy while we're finishing things up (and to make things a little more interesting), here's an absolute first for Botany Bay – a remix contest for our current single, "A Better Way"!

Whether you're doing a techno-, dub-, trance-, industrial-, triphop-,  R&B- or whatever remix, it's all fine with us. We're into a lot of things, and the best remixes will be featured right here, on our official webpage (and of course, on our facebook fanpage and twitter etc. pp).

The winning track is going to be included on our new album as a bonus track!

(and a new Botany Bay album not just means some downloadable files somewhere on the 'net, but a full-blown physical CD with a booklet and beautiful artwork, and maybe – depending on the outcome of our current label negotiations – even a limited release on Vinyl)

All files are 44kHz .aif files from our original masters, so you shouldn't have a problem slicing and dicing them in your recording software.

The contest will be open for entry until April 5th, 2011, 22:00 CET/MEZ

Legal mumbo jumbo: The source files ("stems") are released under a Creative Commons by-nc-sa license. Which means, you're free to share and to remix the work, under the following conditions: You must attribute the sources to Botany Bay. You may not use this work for commercial purposes. If you alter, transform or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license.

Which basically means, although we'll release the winning mix on our next album, you're free to do with your results whatever you like, as long as you link back to us and don't make any money from it.

The judging will be made by a panel of judges, consisting of Botany Bay band members (i.e. Steffi & Stephan).

The contest is over. And we have to say: Wow. No, WOW – in big letters!

We received over twenty first class remixes from you guys, each one better than the last... and we never expected such a level of interest and quality!

Currently, we're not taking things lightly in choosing the "winner". And this much is clear already: There are so many really brilliant remixes that it would be a crying shame to put only one remix on the next Botany Bay release. So, please bear with us while we figure something out!
